My Very First OOTD

I've bitten the bullet and posted my very first OOTD! I've been thinking of doing this for a long time but I've never actually got round to it, I feel like an idiot when standing in front of the camera, and quite frankly I always thought I was too large to do this. But here it is, my very first one!

So, it's a little too late in the UK now for pretty summery outfits but I did take some outfit posts whilst I was in Mexico earlier this month, which means that they're not quite suitable for the chilly weather we're having now but I thought I would show them nonetheless.

Notice the green theme? I waited until the last few days of the holiday because I thought the pastel green skirt would show off my tan.

Top: Primark £2.00
Skirt: River Island £10.00 (Sale)
Sandals: Primark £4.00
Zig Zag Rings: Asos Curve £10.00 for 6

A very very simple outfit but it was so comfortable on those really hot nights. The style of the skirt helped balance out my broad shoulders and waist, something which I've always struggled with. Although I do get self conscious about my curves and flabby bits, I think I've found the right shape of clothing for me, something which flatters my figure.

I definitely will be posting more OOTD's in the future.

Halloween Look : Little Dead Riding Hood

With only a few days left until Halloween, I wanted to create a look that would only require items that you wouldn't need to go out and buy specially for the occasion. This look was perfect for that.

This look was super easy to recreate and only took around 10 minutes to do. As I have a bit of a tan at the minute due to my holiday, creating slightly paler skin was easy as I just used my regular foundation, but I also added a touch of matte grey eyeshadow lightly over the contours of my face, just to add a slightly more lifeless look. The eyes were pretty simple as it was just two eyehadows. A bright red and a deep black. The ones that I used were Illamasqua pure pigment in Berber and Zeitgeist, lightly blended together and brought up to just above the crease. I also run some black eyeshadow through my eyebrows and added the illusion of stray hairs. Finally, its my favorite part... the lips. I first tried a deep berry shade, but I wasn't happy with it. In the end I used a matte red lipstick and applied a black eyeshadow over the top then moved my lips around so that it would marble together. Simple. All that's left is to add the red hood, and you're done.

I'm super pleased with how this turned out. What will you be dressing up as on Halloween?

I haven't forgotten you...

Well hello there, long time no blog post! Does a week count as a long time? Anyway, you might have noticed that posts have been few and far between here on RL. The reason for this is that I'm currently in Mexico! Not for much longer though as we are flying home tonight :( The whole two weeks has gone by so quickly and I'm really sad to be leaving but I have bought some pretty products which I can't wait to share with you. I'll be resuming normal posting on Monday so that I have time to recover from the mammoth journey.
I can't wait to get back into blogging properly!

A little update...

Hello lovelies! I'm guessing that by the lack of posts and my constant harping on twitter, you will knows that I'm currently away! I'm on a two week holiday and have been looking forward to it for so long! I was going to schedule some posts for whilst I'm away but I wanted to take a real break. To do that I just blogged as I normally would in the run up to my holidays and then have just left it for two weeks. The only post that has been scheduled, is this one. I'm back at the end of this month so blogging/tweeting will resume normal service but until then I shall be laying on a beach, strawberry daiquiri in hand, reading and not having a care in the world! I've got so,e quite exciting reviews coming up when I'm back, which I hope you will enjoy :)

Speak to you all in my next post :)

Halloween Look #3 Day Of The Dead

Another day, Another Halloween look for you. I was in two minds about posting this one because I really don't like the way it came out, but it is one of those where you can put any sort of spin on it, so I thought what the heck!

Despite some designs looking extremely difficult to master (obviously, mine is far from intricate or on the par I would like it to be) but it really is relatively easy to create something. There is no set tutorial or way of doing this sort of look, because you just need to go wild on your face. I worked from an image I found on google and just went from there. The final look on mine is quite messy, which I'm disappointed with, but the effect was there. So here is a list of what you will need...

White Face Paint (I used Snazaroo, but you can use any you can find, as long as it has good coverage)
White Face Powder (Stargazer do an amazing one!)
Any matte eyeshadows you like.
Black Gel or Liquid Liner.

Its such a minimal product look, so you might have most of the item at home already. It's also quite inexpensive making it perfect for those who are on a budget. If I were to do this look again, I would add a floral head crown to get that authentic Mexican look.

Will you be a Sugar Skull for Halloween?

Halloween Look #2 Dark and Smokey

Halloween is the best time of year to experiment with makeup in my opinion. However, if you're not into the whole fancy dress thing then going to a party when everyone else is dressed like ghouls and goblins alike, you can feel a bit like the outsider. Trust me, I've been there! I thought I would show you an alternative to plastering your face with false blood and face paint and use what you might already have in your collection.

For this look, I thought that a dark and sultry look with a little something extra was the best idea, and I'm super pleased with how it turned out. This still brings in the stereotypical Halloween aspect but with an extra glam factor. Here's the look...

The products that I use were:

UD Primer Potion
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Timeless Black
UD Crave Eyeshadow (from Naked Basics Palette) I used this to set the cream base and to exaggerate my brows
UD Zero 24/7 Liner
BellaPierre Eye Shimmer Pigment in Calm
Amazing Shine Eyelashes in 143

I'm super pleased with how this makeup look turned out. It's not your traditional halloween look, but it's perfect for those who don't want to go move very out of the comfort zone. I will definitely be wearing this at some point this month! It's also relatively easy to do as it has very minimal products and is is just a take on a regular smokey eye.

What is your staple Halloween look?

Halloween Makeup #1 : Pop Art Girl

With Halloween just around the corner, it's time to get creative and play dress up! I also think that Halloween is one of those occasions which you either love or hate. Personally, I love it, but I don't always enjoy dressing up as something 'scary' or 'ghoulish' so it's nice to have an alternative. For this look, I realised that most of us would already have most or all of the items needed to recreate this, which makes it such a great and inexpensive halloween look!

For this look you will need:
Primer.
Your regular foundation.
A matte powder.
Matte black eyeshadow.
Black gel or liquid liner.
Matte blue eyeshadow.
Matte red lipstick.
White facepaint.

How To: (with a list of everything I used)
After I had moisturised, I applied my primer (Benefit's Porefessional) quite liberally and let it really sink in well. I then applied my foundation (Rimmel Match Perfection) as I normally would, adding slightly more where more coverage was needed as I didn't use any concealer. The next step was to make the face completely matte (MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural). For this look, it's best to forget about contouring and highlighting as you want the face to look entirely flat with no structure at all. Fill in the brows with an angled brush and a matte black eyeshadow (UD Crave), in a square shape, and don't be afraid to be heavy handed. The more prominent, the better. Now it's time for the polka dots. I used Snazaroo White Face Paint and the end of a chopstick to apply them. Make sure to be random when applying them as placing them in a uniformed way will not fit the natural shape of your face. Once you have done this, apply the black gel liner with an angled brush along the natural contours of your face. I did this along the jaw line, the socket of the eye, centre of my eyebrows and around my lips. The final thing to do is to apply a matte red lipstick. Try and use one as matte as possible (the one that I used was the Sleek Matte Me in Rioja Red). If you like, you can add a few flashes of white along the lips for that true cartoon look, although I didn't do this as I felt that my lips were not the right size.

And that's it! It really is a relatively easy look to recreate for halloween or any other fancy dress occasion. I'll be posting a few more looks throughout the month, although these will have to be scheduled as I'm going on holiday in a few days. The next few halloween looks will hopefully be a little more scary and more fitting to the occasion :)
